1 Month of Using Ubuntu in Education

I just wanted to help promote an interesting experiment that is happening during the month of November.

Ubuntu November is a little project run by a couple of schools from Hampshire, UK. For a long time we have been wondering how successfully an Ubuntu installation could replace our existing Windows/Mac setups in school, and decided it was about time to try.

Our plan is to spend the whole of November working with Ubuntu, looking at what works and what doesn't for UK schools. The blog and wiki are our way of documenting our progress, the aim being a more complete picture of how suitable the OS could be for schools by the end of the month.

Wildern and Everest are leading, but we have contributors from a range of other UK schools. If this seems like something you'd be interested in (whether teacher, IT tech, student or parent) get in touch and join in!

So, if you think it sounds like a good idea (I did and have written to my son's teacher offering to help if they would like to take part) please drop by their website and let them know you'll be joining in.
