Recent high-level security breaches concerning loss of personal and sensitive information have highlighted the need to update information security guidance. Becta has produced some data handling security guidance for schools that will minimise the risk of data being lost or misused if media or devices fall into the wrong hands. There are four documents available on the Schools website, in Word, PDF and OpenDocument text format. The second one, Data Encryption, provides step-by-step guidance on installing the open-source encryption software TrueCrypt. (10 November 2008)
