Hi there - I've recently discovered this forum, and was suprised not to find a reference to our charity yet, so I hope people might find a little more information handy. Particularly, this may be of interest to:
- Heads and e-Learning Directors
- Business Managers
- Network Managers
- ICT Coordinators
Our charity currently supports 348 schools in the UK in projects which give all the students in a cohort access to portable technology to support their learning - wherever and whenever. This usually involves something like a laptop, netbook or PDA per child, that they can use at home and in class. Some projects also include connectivity.
Our model for running projects gives all the chance to participate, regardless of financial circumstance, and supports sustainability by setting up a system of parental contribution for those able to do so. We have given over £9m in funding to schools to support the participation of students from low incomes.
Many schools talking to us have plans to take a lead on Home Access from Becta in December, and are planning to aggregate parents allowances, as well as expand this opportunity into a 1:1 programme for all using our model.
If anyone would like more information, see www.e-learningfoundation.com, or email me on lucy [at] e-learningfoundation [dot] com
