Open Source is driving innovation in education, innovation in delivery, in adoption and usage, in addressing energy conservation, and in all areas. This talk will address all this at all scales and will give examples of practical real-world adoption from the classroom up to country-wide and answering the question of just how far Open Source systems can scale.

Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor is the CEO of Sirius Corporation plc, the UK's first Office of Government Commerce and Becta accredited Open Source company.

From individual classrooms, to regional infrastructure projects, to the National Digital Resource Bank, Sirius is involved day-to-day with Open Source in Education at all levels.

Mark was also the founder, and for five years President, of the Open Source Consortium, in which role he worked as advocate and advisor to Governmental bodies with respect to the adoption of Free and Open Source software. He currently acts as a policy advisor to at least one UK political party, and is a well known write and speaker on all aspects of the Open Source phenomena.
