Unconferences are what their particpants make them.
We'd like as many particpants as possible to use this opportunity to share something of their expertise, enthusiasm and experience with like-minded teachers and techies, or just those interested in finding out more.
So, how do you use open source? Sessions could be...
- About classroom practice: open source software that you use with students, within or beyond the ICT curriculum, maybe even a demonstration lesson?
- About policy and strategy: big picture issues for school leaders and policymakers
- Technical stuff: getting things to work, getting pieces to fit together, innovation and reliability
- Development work: open source projects you're participating in: what does it do? what's the road map? how can those in schools help?
- Anything else with a connection to UK schools and open source software!
You're welcome to run sessions as normal presentations, but the more interactive you can make your talk, the better for an unconference. If you'd like to run a practical workshop, that's great too! Web-based stuff is likely to be easier on the day than stuff that needs installing. Another possibility would be to facilitate a round-table discussion. Aim for something which those coming to the session will be able to get involved with afterwards if they want.
Don't worry if you don't want to run a session yourself - being an active participant in someone else's presentation, workshop or discussion is a really important contribution. Remember, this isn't the usual sort of INSET/Conference - your participation really matters this time!
We're looking at a 30 minute grid for most of the day, but you're welcome to team up with a firend or colleague to share a session if you need to.
To create a session proposal, simply follow the link. We hope to accomodate all the sessions offered, but there's Diig-like voting mechanism set up here in case we run out of room or time.
