This site provides a downloadable CDROM with the best software from the OSS community for general users. The most recent version we’ve looked at (July 08) includes over 20 software packages for Windows XP and above, including OpenOffice (desktop office suite), Scribus (desktop publishing), Inkscape (vector graphics), Firefox (web browser), GIMP (image manipulation) and Celestia (3D space simulation). The complete list is http://www.theopendisc.com/programs/ . 

The Open Education Disc is a variant of the Open Disc with some different inclusions, selected by teachers, and aimed at school and student use (ages 10-21).
