Software Directory

There are said to be over 150,000 open source software projects. In this directory we aim to give some basic information about just a few of these, based on several criteria

  • potentially useful to schools
  • well established with stable software released
  • in widespread use with a large user community

The directory entries are organised according to type of software, listed on the left.

You don't say which run on windows/mac and which only run on linux.

you might like to add www.freesoftwareforstudents.org.uk . Most apps listed are windows based, all are open source. You can also download a CD image to give to students.

its quite a nice take on oss as it presents open source with the commercial alternatives and compares them.
