With more than 15 years at Sun, Gilles is responsible for identifying and implementing strategic partnerships and solution sets to address government market needs worldwide. He uses his knowledge and skills around security and open source to ensure a perfect match with todays mission critical needs of governmental IT projects.
Prior to this role, Gilles was Chief Open Source Ambassador for the EMEA region, driving the relationships between the various European, Middle Eastern and African open source communities and Sun Microsystems. Internally, he was also the liaison between Sun's Chief Open Source office, and the various groups developing open source inside Sun. He has also been active in various countries around digital rights management, privacy issues and open standards implementations.
Earlier in his career, Gilles has held positions ranging from consultant to market development manager for security with an international focus for the past 11 years. Gilles was also responsible for launching a marketing program dedicated to startups in France and Germany.
Gilles has an MS degree in computer design, and a background in IT security and open source development. He is CISSP #91529. He occasionally posts on his blog : http://blogs.sun.com/gravax/ .
Gilles is a fan of photography and travels either with his Canon EOS 7D or his PowerShot G9. He also shares his passion for astronomy with the neighboring elementary school children. - Blog address
